The advanced course will cover the basic material in more detail as well as in depth discussions of pressure series, seating depth, case concentricity, neck thickness and uniformity, determining lead length and chamber characteristics, the benefits and drawbacks to neck sizing, chronographs and their usefulness. The question, “does Standard Deviation actually mean anything?” will be examined in detail. “What are the signs of excess pressure and how does one avoid excess pressure by analyzing the case,” will be yet another intriguing rabbit hole.
This course will be more of a seminar format focused upon load development for the specific ammunition application. Students will be interviewed prior to the course in order to highlight specific areas of focus. The course will cover in depth the progressive reloading process and benefits vs rewards of progressive vs single stage reloading.
This course will be taught in a long established reloading environment. Space is limited, as is class size (3 students max). This course assumes a student with a background of a minimum of one year of basic cartridge reloading. All aspects of this course will be hands on.
