Curtis’ shooting experience started as an adult but accelerated very rapidly! In Barbados where he grew up, the only people who had guns were bad guys and cops. After buying his first gun, a shotgun, he was hooked. He dedicated his time and effort to becoming very proficient in his knowledge, skills and safe handling of firearms.
Curtis became extremely passionate about dispelling the negative stereotype surrounding firearms. Through his years of vigorous training he became an NRA Certified Instructor as well as a NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. During that time, he recognized that the biggest issue with handling firearms safely and effectively is miseducation, ignorance and carelessness. He stresses the importance and methodical emphasis of proper techniques and handling under various situations and has an affinity for all defensive shooting classes and concepts.
Curtis uses a very interactive approach to learning. Through repetition of drills, procedures and the dissemination of vital information, students will acquire the necessary skills, confidence and technique to be very proficient themselves. Interpersonal interactions on the range and in the classroom are his specialty. Curtis has also included specifically training women as he feels very strongly about empowering women to protect themselves and their family.
