Defensive Pistol OnE (Course Description)
Defensive Pistol 1 is a proprietary training program developed and delivered by CRMP TRAINING LLC, operating as Phase 3 Training, Inc. This course is designed for responsible pistol owners seeking practical, real-world defensive skills beyond competitive shooting. Please note: this curriculum is not approved by the NRA and is intended solely for internal use. All materials are the intellectual property of CRMP TRAINING LLC and may not be reproduced or shared without written consent.
Course Structure and Philosophy
Participants will begin with a thorough welcome and administrative check-in, including staff introductions and verification of pistol licenses. Safety is paramount: a tailored range safety briefing, emergency contact procedures, and strict range protocols ensure a secure learning environment. Eye and ear protection are mandatory, and all firearm handling follows rigorous safety commands and supervision.
The training philosophy emphasizes problem-solving and combat-effective shooting, focusing on consistency, efficiency, and reality-based scenarios. Students will learn to distinguish between bullseye and defensive shooting, preparing for real-world situations rather than sport.
Skills and Drills
Fundamental skills are reviewed in detail, including grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger and breath control, and follow-through. Students practice search and assess techniques, workspace management for reloads and clearing, and administrative procedures such as tactical reloads, press checks, and magazine positioning.
Live-fire exercises progress from basic accuracy drills at 7 yards to advanced reloads, malfunction clearing (double feed, stove pipe), and scenario-based drills. Students engage in a variety of practical exercises, such as the Bill Drill, Zipper Drill, 2x2x2 Drill, 1-4 Drill, X-Drill, Hammered Pairs/Double Tap, Mozambique, strong/support side shooting, 5-5-5 Drill, kneeling, barricade work, left/right turning, and the classic El Presidente drill. Each drill is designed to build speed, accuracy, and tactical awareness under realistic conditions.
Safety and Evaluation
Throughout the course, safety is continuously reinforced, with instructors and Range Safety Officers monitoring all activities. Students receive immediate feedback on shooting fundamentals, form, and error correction. The curriculum stresses deliberate practice, controlled movements, and situational awareness at every stage. NO OPEN TOE SHOES. NO V NECK SHIRTS.
