PREREQUISITE COURSES: NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading.

  • The NRA Instructor Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course is an intensive, 14-hour instructor level program designed to prepare experienced reloaders to teach the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course with confidence, professionalism, and a strong emphasis on safety. This course develops the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to effectively organize, promote, and deliver NRA approved metallic cartridge reloading instruction in accordance with NRA standards.

  • Instructor candidates must have successfully completed the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course and achieved a minimum score of 90 percent on the student examination. In addition, candidates are required to complete pre course assessments demonstrating foundational knowledge, practical familiarity, and safe handling practices related to metallic cartridge reloading. These prerequisites ensure that all participants enter the instructor course with a solid technical and safety-oriented baseline.

  • The course is presented in two integrated components:
    1. Basic Instructor TrainingThis portion focuses on universal instructional principles, including course organization, effective communication, lesson planning, student engagement, and responsible classroom management. Emphasis is placed on developing professional teaching skills and presenting material in a clear, consistent, and safety focused manner.
    2. Discipline Specific Instructor Training (Metallic Cartridge Reloading)The discipline specific segment prepares candidates to teach the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading curriculum. Instructor candidates learn how to present course material accurately, manage demonstrations appropriately, reinforce safety standards, and guide students through learning objectives while maintaining NRA instructional integrity.
    Throughout the course, candidates actively participate in practical teaching and organizational exercises, allowing them to demonstrate instructional ability, leadership, and adherence to NRA teaching methodology. Performance during these exercises is an essential component of instructor development and evaluation.

  • Instructor candidates must successfully complete an instructor certification examination and demonstrate acceptable performance during practical exercises to qualify for NRA instructor certification. The course is designed to ensure that certified instructors are prepared to deliver consistent, high quality training that reflects NRA standards and best practices.
